"Your value doesn't decrease based on someone's inability

What are you doing to get in your own way?

Have you heard of the Progress Principle?
Harvard Business School conducted a survey on their students to try to determine what was the thing that would allow people to feel like they had achieved, like they had a great day at work?
They had the students write in a journal of all their daily tasks and feelings and the outcome of this trial was that to have a great day at work, they had to do something that mattered to them.
...do something each day that mattered to them.
I would say that the answer suggested does have plausibility and it could actually be achieved.
And it is easy to come up with achieving a task or job that did matter to me.
Mel Robbins, speaker and author of 'Take Control Of Your Life' promotes her 5-second rule to move through the emotions of self-doubt that keeps you from not advancing.
"5 Second Rule: If you have an impulse to act on a goal, you must physically move within 5 seconds or your brain will kill the idea."
When she says 'kill the idea', these are the emotions of self-doubt that keep you frozen to action.
Hesitation, brain-scrambling of negative questions and doubt
Hiding, being silent, not speaking up, avoiding people
Being Hypercritical of one's self, skewed thoughts and emotions to reality
or feeling Helpless, afraid and victim mentality
Self doubt is always arguing with yourself instead of taking action.
Self doubt is the opposite of confidence, where I am sure we all would prefer to operate from.
So, if Self-doubt is to choose not to try, confidence is a choice to try.
When we plan to take action, we think from a different part of our brain. It is logical. It is full of positive vibe, action steps and clarity.
But when self-doubt creeps in, we go to another part of the brain where emotions are stored and depending on your mindset, this is enhanced throughout your body.
Therefore, Mel Robbins has strategically come up with the 5-second rule to apply whenever you feel you are not applying yourself confidently to count to five to take your thoughts to the logical, action taking area of your brain to see yourself achieve.
Mel Robbins has a great video on 'How To Beat Self Doubt', utilising actual audience members to show them the steps to take.
Watch it here.
Isn't it quite ironic that the fear that stops you now, having all the ill-feeling emotions like failing, overwhelm, being unsure, nervous, worrying about rejection or humiliation, etc. whilst not taking action to protect ourselves is pretty much the same feared emotions that would possibly occur if you did take action and actually failed?
Halting yourself before you begin you'd experience 100% of these deliberating emotions whereas by taking action, the chances of this happening are very much lessened...
Being confident is merely a decision to try, to take action and keep going forward.
It is ok to feel (like worry or fear), it is our strength and belief to keep going.
To show your emotions actually allows your audience to connect with you, so why would you want to be any different?
